Robert De Niro is starting off big with his first leading role in a television series.
Arriving on Netflix February 20 Noah Oppenheim (President, NBC News, TODAY, Jackie, The Thing About Pam, The Maze Runner) and Eric Newman (Griselda, The Watcher, Narcos, Narcos: Mexico) are the creators of Zero Day. A revered and well-respected former US president (De Niro) is the focus of the upcoming exciting and horrifying limited series, which follows him as he battles his personal demons and leads the investigation into a countrywide hack. Nevertheless, De Niro told Netflix that "right now, our actual world is scarier."
According to Newman, who spoke to Netflix, Zero Day is about the fallout from a catastrophic hack that kills thousands of people and has the potential to tip a country already on the brink of disaster.
"The show also examines the cost of power for those who are asked to take on these enormous challenges," Oppenheim continued. what it means to their families as well as to them personally.

What’s Zero Day about?
De Niro plays esteemed former President George Mullen in the limited series. Mullen is tasked with investigating the culprits of a horrific cyberattack that caused chaos and thousands of deaths nationwide in his capacity as chairman of the Zero Day Commission. The personal goals of influential figures in government, Wall Street, and technology clash with the widespread spread of misinformation. Mullen's relentless pursuit of the truth puts everything he values at danger and compels him to face his own sinister secrets.
Zero Day poses the universal query: How can we discover the truth in a world that is in crisis and appears to be being ripped apart by uncontrollable forces? And how many of those forces are our own creation, or even our own imagination, at a time when deception and conspiracy theories are rampant?
De Niro values Mullen's philosophy of being straightforward. De Niro remarked, "That's the spine of my character in the show." "Avoid avoiding anything. Avoid playing games. Be truthful about the situation so that the general public is aware of it.

- Richard Dreyer, played by Matthew Modine (Stranger Things, Oppenheimer), is a self-assured, colorful public personality. He is a skilled politician who serves as the speaker of the house.
- CIA director Jeremy Lasch, played by Bill Camp (The Queen's Gambit, The Night Of), is the quintessential insider who appears to know everyone's secrets. He has the potential to be Mullen's and his circle's most important friend or a lethal foe.
