Liz Feldman, the creator of Dead to Me's forthcoming series No Good Deed, is nearly ready to flip the key. Three families compete to purchase the same Los Angeles mansion in the dark comedy, only to discover that their ideal home may turn out to be a nightmare. A detailed look at each of the competing pairings is provided in the latest teaser, which also teases the secrets and lies that this loaded ensemble may be hiding.
In addition to a vast range of other gifted actors, including Dead to Me actress Linda Cardellini in a part that is unlike anything she has ever played, the show is anchored by Emmy Award-winning actors Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano. Ahead of No Good Deed's December 12 release, you can catch a glimpse of Cardellini (along with the rest of the ensemble) in the teaser above.
While working on the last season of Dead to Me, Feldman initially envisioned the remainder of the enigmatic No Good Deed universe, including Cardellini's cherry-red wedge-wearing Los Angeleno Margo. In her next effort, Cardellini had stated that she intended to portray Judy, her endearing heroine, as "the complete opposite." Feldman tells Tudum that the Emmy-nominated actor wanted to play a "badass bitch."
"That's really interesting," I thought. "What would that look like?" asks the executive producer and showrunner. 'Why hasn't there been a program on the buying and selling of one house and all of the individuals that orbit around that one location?' I had already begun to imagine this world of Los Angeles real estate. "Who would that badass bitch be in this world?" I asked myself.
What is the purpose of No Good Deed?
Over the course of eight half-hour episodes, the dark comedy series No Good Deed follows three very different families as they compete to purchase the same 1920s Spanish-style property that they believe would cure all of their problems. However, as the sellers have already learned, the house of your dreams can occasionally turn into a complete nightmare. "It's picturesque in both good and dark ways," says Feldman, especially in the "romantic" Los Feliz section of Los Angeles.
The focus of No Good Deed's real estate feeding frenzy is the Morgan family; Kudrow and Romano portray empty-nesters Lydia and Paul, spouses who have rather different ideas about selling the family home. "It's a really interesting time in their lives—we meet them at a bit of a crossroads." Feldman says. "We are aware that they will soon undergo some significant adjustments. They are aware that significant changes in their [lives] are imminent. However, many are unaware of how significant.
As Lydia and Paul fight to conceal the sinister and perilous truths that haunt their ancestral house, they come to understand that facing the past head-on is the only way to move past it.

Can I view any video from No Good Deed?
Yes, think of the trailer above as your No Good Deed open house. The escalating emotions around the Morgan house sale are shown in the film. Because everyone in No Good Deed doubts one another's intentions, even the Morgans themselves are unable to trust one another with kitchen knives. In the footage, you'll see enigmatic threats, someone being handcuffed by the cops, and shadowy creatures lurking in the dark. "Something strange" is happening in Los Feliz, as Sarah (played by Poppy Liu) puts it. To learn exactly what it is, tune in in December.
Who makes up the cast of No Good Deed?
Romano plays Paul Morgan, a flat-broke and stressed-out contractor who is itching to retire, settle his debts, and leave Los Angeles. He believes that selling his lovely property in Los Feliz will solve all of his issues with his wife, Lydia, but his previous transgressions still haunt him. Feldman describes Ray as an affable individual who "carries a lot of emotional baggage that you know is there, but he's so good at hiding it."
Paul's wife Lydia Morgan, a gifted (and tense) former concert pianist, is portrayed by Kudrow. Lydia is a kind, but imperfect, mother who is committed to Paul. The thought of losing their Los Feliz house, which is full of both pleasant memories and sinister secrets, makes her very upset.
Feldman claims that Lisa is one of the world's most distinctive, unexpected, and subversively dark comedians. "I was thrilled to collaborate with her in a role that allowed her to fully inhabit the role of Lydia."
Cardellini portrays Margo Starling, a well-groomed status-seeker with plenty of unspoken secrets. Margo understands how to get what she wants, and she wants the desirable Morgan home so she and her partner, a wealthy developer, can flip it for a profit.

Luke Wilson portrays JD Campbell, a sad soap opera star who is in dire need of a new career. JD wants to reduce the size of his contemporary McMansion while continuing to live a luxury lifestyle and be married to a demanding wife. According to Feldman, "he has this amazing sensitive subtlety that is so perfect for JD." "He had a great time portraying this actor. Luke is amazing; I love every scene with him.
Who is responsible for No Good Deed?
Feldman, Christie Smith, and Silver Tree, her Dead to Me co-star who helms the pilot and other episodes of No Good Deed, are also executive producers of the series. Additionally, Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum are EPs. Their production firm, Gloria Sanchez Productions, has given us a number of films, such as Booksmart, Hustlers, and May December.
Feldman attributes her ability to create the upcoming surprises in No Good Deed, which she consistently imagined to be a mystery, to her writers' room. She adds, "They helped me dig out the most complex, entertaining, twisty version of that and helped me expand on that."
